MADISON, Wis.| The Jackson State volleyball team put up a good fight against Wisconsin in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament Thursday evening but came up short on the road. The Tigers fell 3-0 as they closed out the season. 

Inside the Numbers

• Naija Gadis had a team-high two aces in the match.
• Alexis Williams had a team-high seven kills for Jackson State and she tacked on six digs in the game.
• Jackson State attackers were helped by a team-high 12 assists from Naija Gadis.
• Hope Briggs had six kills while Nyjah Marcelin finished with five.
• Kyahana Robinson finished with three blocks in the match.

How It Happened

• Jackson State (17-13,10-6 SWAC) found themselves in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-18. 
• JSU trailed by as many as seven points as Wisconsin never gave up the lead in a set that was tied up zero times before the Badgers took control. 
• A 25-9 second-set loss put Jackson State in a 2-0 deficit in the match.
• The Tigers fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
• JSU couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three.
• The Tigers dropped a tough set 25-18.
• Jackson State trailed by as many as seven points as Wisconsin grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up three times before the Badgers took over the lead.
