PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas| The Jackson State soccer team fell just short of a win in the SWAC Championship game Sunday afternoon at the PVAMU Soccer Complex. The Tigers lost 2-1 in the matchup.
How It Happened
Grambling State scored a goal at the 39:35 mark as Khori Banks punched one in with an assist from Samantha Diaz. Jackson State responded immediately with a goal from
Harper Bennett and an assist from
Kyla Sands off after a corner kick at 39:37 in the first half. GSU came back to score again before the half ended with a goal from Sophia Lezizidis assisted by Karlyn Judge.
Both teams' defenses held up strong in the second half as no goals were allowed. Grambling State was able to hold JSU and secure the win.
Kendyl Terrell,
Taytum Terrell and
Maya-Joy Thompson were named to the SWAC All-Tournament team after their outstanding performances over the course of the three days.

- Jackson State took 11 shots seven of which were on goal, while GSU finished with five shots and three on goal.
- Jordan Hamilton picked up on save in the match and Madison Covey-Taylor finished with six.
