TALLAHASSEE, Fla.| The Jackson State women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 68-53 victory over Florida A&M on the road Saturday in a back-and-forth matchup.
The Tigers had two players score in double figures, led by Ti'Ian
Boler, who had 19 points and two steals.
Jariyah Covington tacked on 16 points, three assists and three rebounds, and
Keshuna Luckett added nine points, six assists and two steals.
Led by
Daphane White's four offensive rebounds, Jackson State pulled down 20 boards that resulted in 23 second chance points.
JSU forced 15 Florida A&M turnovers while committing 12 themselves in Saturday's game. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 18 points on the offensive end of the floor.
Daja Woodard led the way individually with three steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (14-8, 11-1) started off strong, putting together a 19-13 lead heading into the second quarter.
- The Tigers capitalized on four Florida A&M (5-18, 3-9 SWAC) turnovers in the period, turning them into seven points on the other end of the floor.
- JSU used the second period to increase their lead and entered halftime with a 33-20 edge.
- Jackson State dominated in the paint, scoring 10 of its 14 points close to the basket.
- After the half, Jackson State held on to its advantage and owned a 50-37 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
- JSU played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 17 points in the paint.
- The Tigers coasted to the win from there, increasing their margin of victory by outscoring the Rattlers 18-16 in the fourth quarter.
- Jackson State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 10 of its 18 points in the paint.

- JSU shot 40.6 percent (26-for-64) from the field and 52.4 percent (11-for-21) from the free throw line
- The Tigers held the Rattlers to only 38.2 percent shooting from the field.
