Jackson State shoots 52.6 percent from deep, beats Bethune-Cookman 91-64

DAYTONA BEACH, FL --The Jackson State men's basketball team shot 52.6 percent from deep on the way to a 91-64 win against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on the road Monday.

The Tigers (9-17, 8-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Chase Adams, who had 21 points. Ken Evans added 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals and Coltie Young chipped in as well with 15 points.

The Jackson State offense was very productive from downtown, knocking down 10 threes on 19 attempts. Adams was the most prolific shooter for the Tigers, draining three treys in the contest.

The Jackson State defense held Bethune-Cookman shooters to just 35 percent from the field, including 28 percent from three-point range.

How It Happened

Jackson State started out the scoring by going on an 8-0 run, culminating in a three from Adams, to take an early lead with 18:09 left in the first half. The Tigers then added two points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 41-31 advantage.

Jackson State kept its lead intact before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 52-38 with 14:28 to go in the contest. The Tigers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 91-64 win. Jackson State capitalized on eight Bethune-Cookman turnovers in the period, collecting 14 points off those turnovers.
