BATON ROUGE, La.| Freshman Jace Jackson went 2-for-2 with a double, but the Jackson State softball team still came up short on Saturday, and suffered defeat at the hands of the Grambling State. The final score was 3-1.
Junior Takiya Hill (0-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Jackson State (2-4). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on eight hits, allowing no walks and striking out five.
In the batter's box, the Lady Tigers were led by Jackson, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a double and a walk.
HOW IT | HAPPENED
- Trailing 3-0, the Tigers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning.
- Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Jackson State and get them on the board.
- The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
· Jackson State's highest scoring inning was the sixth when it pushed one run across.
· JSU's pitchers limited Grambling to just 2-for-12 (.167) with runners in scoring position.

GAME 2| JSU vs. EIU
Senior Isabel Gusman racked up four hits, but the Jackson State Tigers fell to the Eastern Illinois Panthers 10-4 on Saturday.
Junior Victoria Salazar (1-2) came out of the bullpen for Jackson State (2-6) and took the loss.
In addition to her four hits, Gusman had a home run and three RBI to lead the Lady Tigers. Freshman Jace Jackson put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· JSU got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom of the first inning with the game still scoreless.
· Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Jackson State and get them on the board.
· JSU then held the Panthers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning.
· Jackson State scored twice on Gusman's two-run homer, which brought the Tigers lead to 3-0.
· Jackson State's lead had disappeared once the sixth inning came around and turned into a 4-3 Eastern Illinois advantage when the Lady Tigers tied up the game at four.
· JSU scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Gusman.
· Eastern Illinois then scored six times over the remaining one inning to break the tie and grab the 10-4 win.
