Baseball Rallies For Win Over Prairie View

NEW ORLEANS – Jackson State baseball rallied from a three-run deficit over the final three innings to defeat Prairie View 5-4 on day two of the Andre Dawson Classic.

Trailing 4-1 after six innings, the Tigers (4-2) tied the score in the seventh. Marshal Luiz walked and moved to second on an error. With one out, Daniel Bannon and Colby Guy walked to load the bases. Ty Hill then doubled to left-center field, scoring all three runners to the game at 4-4.

In the ninth, Luiz led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jatavis Melton. With two out, Guy singled to center, scoring Luiz with the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of the ninth, Jonah Posey (1-0) got the first out on a fly out before Erick Gonzalez struck out the final two batters to earn the save.

Hill went 2-for-4 with three RBI and had two of JSU's six hits. Bannon went one for three, reached base three times, and scored twice.
