Cook records double-double in Jackson State's 78-69 loss to Grambling

BIRMINGHAM, AL --Zeke Cook registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, but the Jackson State men's basketball team fell to the Grambling Tigers 78-69 at Bartow Arena Friday.

The Tigers (14-19) had four players score in double figures, led by Coltie Young, who had 18 points. Romelle Mansel added 12 points and Ken Evans chipped in as well with 12 points.

Jackson State took advantage of great ball movement in Friday's game, piling up 15 assists on 23 made field goals. Chase Adams' six assists were the most for the Tigers and Evans also added three assists of his own.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 5-3 advantage, Jackson State went on a 6-0 run with 17:12 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Evans, to increase its lead to 11-3. The Tigers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 36-34 advantage. Jackson State did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 22 of its 36 points close to the basket.

Grambling then erased the Jackson State lead in the game's final quarter for a 78-69 comeback victory. Jackson State made the most of eight offensive rebounds to tack on 12 second chance points out of 33 total in the period.
