Tigers Prepare For Prairie View A&M in SWAC Quarterfinals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.| The Jackson State men's basketball team will face Prairie View A&M in the Cricket SWAC Basketball Tournament quarterfinals.

Under first head coach Mo Williams, Jackson State completed a 13-win season after a victory over Mississippi Valley.

The Tigers had two players score in double figures, led by Coltie Young, who had 15 points and three steals. Ken Evans tacked on 14 points, and six rebounds, and Chase Adams added seven points and two steals.

Jackson State cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 11 offensive boards in the game. Both Ken Evans and Treyon Johnson had six rebounds.

The Tigers enter the SWAC Basketball Tournament as the #3 seed and will take on the #6 seed in the Prairie View A&M quarterfinals.

PVAMU defeated Texas Southern 78-74.

Douglas notched an impressive double-double for the Panthers with 27 points and 11 rebounds.

Douglas, TeKorian Smith, and Braden Bell accounted for 77 percent of the Panther's points.

Douglas was selected All-Southwestern Athletic Conference First Team.

The Tigers and Panthers have split the season series as they both won on their home arena.
