JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State softball team took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 10-3 to Bethune-Cookman Friday evening at the JSU Softball Field.
Marissa Medina (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Jackson State . The right-hander went five innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on four hits, allowing four walks and striking out eight. Jalia Hubbard led the way offensively for the Tigers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run, two walks and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 1-0, Jackson State (17-24, 6-10 SWAC) first put runs on the board in the fifth inning.
- The Tigers managed to push across two runs in the inning.
- JSU lost the lead they built in the fifth, but got back on the board in the seventh trailing 10-2.
- Jackson State picked up a run on Hubbard's two-out solo home run off of Victoria Guzman, which tightened the Wildcats lead to 10-3.
- The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
