Jackson State athletes Erkyah Garrett and Shawn Collins were named Southwestern Athletic Conference Track Athletes of the Week for their performances last week at Louisiana Monroe.

Garrett (Soph., Milwaukee, Wis.) posted a pair of personal-best times at the Warhawk Invitational. She won the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.72, and finished second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.61. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay, won by Jackson State in a season-best time of 46.74.

Collins (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.), who is ranked 14th nationally in the 400-meter dash, posted his fourth individual race win of the outdoor season, winning the 400 with a time of 46.99 seconds, his second-best time of the season. Collins also ran the second leg of the men's 4x100, helping the Tigers to a first-place finish in a season-best time of 40.14.  Collins' time of 45.60 in the 400 at Mississippi State on March 23 was the best in the nation at that time.

Both the Jackson State women's and men's track and field teams return to action in the SWAC Track and Field Championships May 4-6 in Prairie View, Texas.
