JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State soccer team rallied from a 4-3 deficit to beat Grambling State 5-4 on Sunday afternoon in its home finale. The victory improved Jackson State's record to 2-7-4 overall and 2-1-3 in SWAC action.
How it Happened
- Just 1:09 into the match, Jackson State got on the board first when Karime Antonio-Lopez notched her third goal of the season, assisted by Kendyl Terrell.
- Grambling State responded roughly 37 seconds later to tie things up on a goal from Alana Aiken in the first minute, assisted by Olivia Kowall.
- JSU then took a 2-1 lead on Caylah Williams' goal at , her fourth of the season at 9:58, assisted by Karime Antonio Lopez.
- Jackson State made it a 3-1 lead with an 11th-minute goal from Terrell, her third goal of the season, assisted by Antonio-Lopez.
- Grambling State closed the gap on JSU to make it a 3-2 game on Jayla Gage's goal at the 24:39 mark.
- Jackson State held on to that lead going into the half.
- Grambling State tied it up at 3-3 after the half on a goal from Jayla Gage at 61:26, assisted by Whitney Walker.
- GSU took the lead at 66:11 on another goal from Gage.
- Jackson State tied it up at 4 thanks to a goal from Williams at 73:51, assisted by Terrell who's shot was blocked by Madison Covey-Taylor and landed at Williams' feet for her to score.
- Thanks to a 79th-minute goal from Terrell, her third goal of the season, JSU took a 5-4 lead that held to the finish.
