MONROE, La.| The Jackson State softball team fell in a mid-week matchup to ULM Wednesday evening on the road.
Senior Victoria Salazar (3-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Jackson State (10-3).
Sophomore Maddie Nichols and junior Victoria Abrams combined to toss a shutout on Wednesday as the UL Monroe Warhawks blanked the Jackson State Tigers 8-0.
Junior Meah Almaraz led the way offensively for the Tigers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double.
How It Happened
- Jackson State (10-3) did not advance a runner past second base in the game.
- The Tigers went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the sixth, when Almaraz made it into scoring position with two outs.
Inside the Numbers
- Jackson State pitchers faced 31 UL Monroe hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and six fly balls while striking out three.
- Almaraz led the Tigers at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double.
- ULM was led offensively by freshman Meagan Brown, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
- Abrams led the Warhawks pitching staff, throwing three shutout innings.
