JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State women's basketball team rallied from a 10-point deficit at 55-45 with 5:44 left in the fourth quarter to take down the Southern Jaguars 63-58 at home Monday. Ti'Ian Boler dropped 20 points and six rebounds in the win.
The Tigers had two other players score in double figures. Keshuna Luckett added 16 points, five assists and two steals and Miya Crump helped out with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Jackson State out-rebounded Southern 37-28 in Monday's game, led by Crump's seven boards. The Tigers also collected 12 offensive rebounds and scored eight second chance points.
Jackson State's defense held Southern to only 32 percent shooting from the field, including 30 percent from beyond the arc.
How It Happened
- Jackson State (14-6, 9-0 SWAC) started out the scoring by going on a 7-0 run to take an early lead with 6:01 left in the first quarter.
- The Tigers then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 10-7 advantage.
- JSU took advantage of six offensive rebounds to score four second chance points out of 10 total in the period
- The Tigers could not maintain their lead in the second quarter and entered halftime trailing 32-17.
- After the half, Jackson State cut its deficit to 33-21 before going on an 8-0 run to trim its deficit to 33-29 with 7:14 to go in the third.
- Southern (7-13, 5-5 SWAC) countered and stretched its lead to 50-34 heading into the fourth.
- Jackson State took advantage of five Southern turnovers in the quarter, scoring 10 points off of takeaways.
- The Tigers narrowed its deficit to 55-45 before going on a 9-0 run to shrink the deficit to 55-54 with 3:06 to go in the contest.
- JSU kept the rally going and took the lead for good on Crump's jumper with 01:17 left for a 63-58 comeback victory.
- Jackson State took advantage of six Southern turnovers in the quarter, scoring nine points off of those takeaways.

- Jackson State shot 77.5 percent (31-for-40) from the free throw line and 14-for-45 (31.1 percent) from the field.
- The Tigers finished with 20 points off of 14 SU turnovers, 18 points in the paint, 11 fast break points, eight second chance points and one bench point.
- Southern shot 71.9 percent (23-for-32) from the free throw line and 32 percent (16-for-50) from the field.
- Genovea Johnson led the Jaguars with 11 points and seven rebounds.
- Taylor Williams had 10 points and three rebounds in the game.
- The Jaguars finished with 33 bench points, 24 points in the paint, 15 points off of 20 JSU turnovers, eight fast break points and five second chance points.
