Williams' 11-strikeout Outing Propels Tigers over Alcorn 12-9

JACKSON, Miss -- Isaiah Williams was dominant on Saturday, fanning 11 Alcorn State hitters over 5.2 innings of work to help lead the Jackson State Tigers past the Braves 12-9.

In addition to his 11 strikeouts, Williams threw 5.2 innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on five hits, and walking six for Jackson State (8-3). Brandon Haston also made an impact on the mound for the Tigers, throwing three innings, giving up one run on one hit, with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Jordan McCladdie led the way offensively for the Tigers, going 4-for-5 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and three RBI. Joseph Eichelberger compiled a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4 with two walks and an RBI. Ledy Alvarez also contributed, going 1-for-4 for Jackson State with a double, a walk, and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Tigers scored in six different innings on the way to victory. After holding the lead two different times earlier in the ballgame, Jackson State broke an 8-8 tie and took the lead for good at 10-8 in the sixth inning. The Tigers recorded two of their three runs on a two-run single off the bat of McCladdie.
