PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Jackson State men's basketball team got a 24-point showing from the bench on the way to a 79-74 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers on the road Monday night inside the William Nicks Building.
Ken Evans Jr., who had 23 points and seven rebounds, led the Tigers (13-16, 9-7 SWAC) with four players scoring in double figures. Coltie Young added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Zeke Cook chipped in as well with 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals off the bench. Keiveon Hunt also added 11 points with three assists for the Tigers in the win.Â
Jackson State out-rebounded Prairie View A&M 44-31 in Monday's game, led by Treyon Johnson, who had nine boards. The Tigers also pulled down 19 offensive rebounds and scored 21 second-chance points.

How It Happened
After falling behind 36-35, Jackson State went on a 6-0 run with 2:25 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Hunt, to take a 41-36 lead. The Tigers lost some of that lead but still entered halftime with a 41-38 advantage. Jackson State did most of its first-half damage in the paint, scoring 24 of its 41 points close to the basket.
Jackson State started tacking on points in the second half almost immediately, going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 48-38 with 18:46 to go in the contest. The Panthers (10-20, 5-12 SWAC) narrowed the margin somewhat before the game ended, but the Tigers still held on for the 79-74 win. Jackson State took care of business in the paint, recording 24 of its 38 points in the lane.
