Box Score BATON ROUGE, La.| The Jackson State softball team traveled for a mid-week matchup at Southern University Tuesday evening. The Tigers came away with a 4-1 win over the Jaguars in the non-conference meeting.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (25-13, 12-5 SWAC) got on the board in the top of the first inning as Jace Jackson doubled to left field to score Ka'Liyah Gipson.
- The Tigers took a 2-0 advantage at the hands of an SU error during Gabby Willis' at bat that allowed Beija Allen to score.
- With two outs, Southern scored its first run of the game on a line drive to right field.
- Mari Stephens answered in the top of the fourth scoring Willis on a sacrifice fly and advancing two runners to second and third.
- Jace Jackson scored in the top of the fifth during Willis' at bat for a 4-1 lead.
- The Tigers defense held on to keep Southern scoreless as JSU secured the 4-1 win.
