JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State softball team officially closed out its regular season with a makeup game against Alabama A&M on Tuesday evening. The Tigers topped the Bulldogs 7-2 to improve to 16-9 in SWAC play.

JSU finished with 11, seven runs and two errors while Alabama A&M registered eight hits and two runs in the game.

Victoria Salazar recorded another win in the circle for Jackson State after facing 26 batters and only surrendering two runs and two errors in six innings. Sofia Gonzalez pitched one inning for the Tigers striking out one batter and only allowing two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jackson State (29-17, 16-9 SWAC) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double from Jace Jackson that brought Ka'Liyah Gipson home.
• Alabama got the advantage after putting its first runs on the board in the top of the third as Zahria Jones doubled to left field to bring two runs in.
• The Tigers answered immediately as Gipson singled to left field to score Sami Huckabee in the bottom of the third inning.
• JSU scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth starting with Gabby Willis stealing home followed by Kristina Carlson's two-run RBI single to left field that scored Julie Lopez and Jalia Hubbard that gave the Tigers a 5-2 lead.
• The Tigers had another solid inning in the fifth as Hubbard singled to center scoring Jackson.
• Jackson State scored its last run of the game off an RBI single from Lopez to score Hubbard, and JSU's defense held the Bulldogs scoreless the rest of the way.
