BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State enters the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) men's tennis tournament as the No. 3 seed, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
 
Jackson State (4-2) in conference play will open the tournament against No. 5 seed Prairie View A&M at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 19 with the winner advancing to the semifinals against No. 2 seed Alabama A&M on April 20.
 
The two teams played earlier this season in Montgomery (Ala.) in the SWAC Pod with the Tigers winning 4-0. In that match, the Tigers won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, before winning three singles matches to clinch the victory. They also won the first set in each of the other three matches before play was halted.
 
Alabama State enters the tournament as the top seed and will face the winner of No. 4 Alcorn State and No. 6 Southern in the semifinals.
 
The tournament is scheduled to be played April 19-21 at City Park Tennis Center located in New Orleans (La.).
