BATON ROUGE, La. | No. 4 seed Jackson State had its season come to a close in an elimination game loss to No. 2 seed California, 15-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Baton Rouge Regional.
Jackson State (33-19), was held to one hit in the loss, picked up by
Gabrielle Willis who finished the day 1-2.
Ka'Liyah Gipson also reached with a walk and a pair of hitters reached on a fielder's choice. The Tigers threatened in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runners in scoring position before a groundout ended the inning.
Sofia Gonzalez (7-7), the first of four pitchers, suffered the loss in the start.
How It Happened
- (T1) Acacia Anders doubled to center to drive in a run before Elon Butler doubled in another run, California 2-0.
- (T2) Tatum Anzaldo singled to right to drive in a run before a grand slam by Butler extended the lead. Cal got two more runs with a double and triple, California 9-0.
- (T3) Tianna Bell drove in a run with an infield single before Kaylee Pond reached on a fielder's choice that allowed another run to score, California 11-0.
- (T4) Alexis Bishop singled up the middle before a pair of RBI singles wrapped up the scoring, California 15-0.
