LAKE CHARLES, La.| The Jackson State soccer team fell just short of McNeese State despite tying the match at one in the first half of the game. The Tigers lost 2-1 in its first road match of the season.

Roughly eight minutes into the match, McNeese State (1-1-0) scored a goal right down the middle at 8:07 as Tigers' goalie Jordan Hamilton neared the front of the box to defend. Jackson State (0-1-1) scored at 34:04 with a goal from Kendyl Terrell, assisted by Kyla Gomez. The Cowgirls took the lead that carried into the half on a goal scored by Isabelle Smith at 44:03.

Erin Cate took her chance on the goal at 55:08 but McNeese State's Jackie Kelly came up with the save. At 71:11, Kendyl Terrell tried tie it up for a second time but couldn't get the ball past Kelly. Karime Antonio-Lopez followed up with another attempt at 72:41 but was unlucky. Caylah Williams shot on goal at 76:17 and Terrell shot again at 88:06 but neither shot hit the net. Despite the Tigers' attempts to level the match, the Cowgirls held on for the 2-1 win.
