JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State returns home on Monday night hosting Alabama A&M to close out its homestand at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.

Jackson State has won its first two Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contests this season against Alcorn State (road) and Alabama State (home). The Tigers scored 70-plus points in both games to open conference play, averaging 74.5 points per game. Jackson State and Alabama A&M have met 49 times since the late 1960s with Jackson State leading the series 30-19 including the last two.Â
The Tigers have three players averaging double figures and are led by Daeshun Ruffin at 13.0 points per game after scoring in double figures in four of five games he has played this season. Jayme Mitchell Jr. is averaging 11.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 35.8 (49-of-137) percent from the floor and 36.7 (29-of-79) percent from beyond the arc, and Dorian McMillian is averaging 10.9 points per game while shooting 40.7 (59-of-145) percent from the floor and 40.6 (28-of-69) percent from beyond the arc.Â

- Jackson State has opened conference play with back-to-back wins for the third time under head coach Mo Williams including back-to-back seasons with three consecutive wins to open the season entering the game on Monday night.
- McMillian scored a career-high 23 points in a win over Alabama State on Saturday, while Tamarion Hoover added a career-high 10 rebounds in the win. The Tigers had four players in double figures and Romelle Mansel narrowly missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. The graduate student is averaging 8.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season.
- Williams is 7-4 against Alabama schools (Alabama, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, North Alabama, and Samford) since becoming a head coach including 4-2 against Alabama A&M.
- Eleven different players have scored in double figures this season for the Tigers who are led by McMillian (10 times), Mitchell (eight times), Shannon Grant (four times), Mansel (four times), and Ruffin (four times). Grant has also posted a pair of double-doubles this season.
