HOUSTON, Texas | Jackson State returns to Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action with a pair of road games this week beginning with a Saturday afternoon contest at Prairie View A&M.
The game is set for a 4:30 p.m. tip-off.
Jackson State (3-13, 3-0 SWAC) sits half a game behind conference leader Southern through the first two weeks of the season after winning three consecutive conference games. They also sit a half-game ahead of Prairie View A&M (4-13, 3-1 SWAC) who has three of its first four conference games. The two teams met once last season with Prairie View A&M winning on the road.
The Tigers have three players averaging double figures and are led by Daeshun Ruffin at 13.7 points per game after scoring in double figures in five of six games he has played this season. Jayme Mitchell Jr. is averaging 11.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 35.5 (55-of-155) percent from the floor and 36.7 (33-of-90) percent from beyond the arc, and Dorian McMillian is averaging 10.5 points per game while shooting 40.4 (61-of-151) percent from the floor and 40.3 (29-of-72) percent from beyond the arc.Â
Romelle Mansel is averaging 9.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

- Jackson State has opened conference play with three consecutive wins for the third time under head coach Mo Williams heading into the Texas swing.
- Mansel was named the SWAC Impact Player of the Week after leading Jackson State to a pair of wins this week over Alabama State and Alabama A&M to stay perfect in the conference standings through the first three games. The graduate student scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds in a triple overtime victory over Alabama A&M, dishing out three assists and recording four steals. He added 14 points and nine rebounds to go along with five assists and three blocks in the first game of the week against Alabama State.
- Ruffin has made his first 16 free throw attempts this season after his 6-for-6 performance in Alabama State, before missing a pair against Alabama A&M. He is now 22-of-24 from the free throw line this season.
- The triple overtime game against Alabama A&M on Monday night is the longest game under head coach Mo Williams for Jackson State this season and in his three years at the helm.
- Jackson State has had 11 different players score in double figures 44 times in 16 games this season.
