JACKSON, Miss. | After 14 consecutive games on the road, Jackson State faces Alabama State in its home opener at the Lee E. Williams AAC on Saturday afternoon on the SWAC Digital Network.
The game tips at 3:30 p.m. and is the second game of the Saturday doubleheader.
Jackson State opened Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play last weekend with a three-point win over Alcorn State after 13 consecutive non-conference games on the road to open the season. The game against Alabama State is the 93rd meeting all-time since 1977 with the Tigers holding a 55-37 lead all-time.Â
The Tigers have three players averaging double figures and are led by Daeshun Ruffin at 13.9 points per game after scoring in double figures in three of four games this season. Jayme Mitchell Jr. is averaging 11.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 36.0 (49-of-136) percent from the floor and 37.2 (29-of-78) percent from beyond the arc, and Dorian McMillian is averaging 10.0 points per game while shooting 39.1 (52-of-133) percent from the floor and 35.0 (21-of-60) percent from beyond the arc.Â

- After playing 14 games away from home (13 true road games) to start the season, Jackson State plays its first home game of the season today against Alabama State. The Tigers are a combined 13-4 in home games under head coach Mo Williams.
- Romelle Mansel grabbed eight rebounds in the Tigers' conference opener against Alcorn State. The total gives him 506 career rebounds in stops at Long Beach State and Jackson State.
- At one point this season, Jackson State had played the third-toughest schedule in the country after facing three top-10 teams (at the time), they enter conference play having played the 35th-toughest schedule in the nation and the toughest in the conference.
- Nine different players have scored in double figures this season for the Tigers who are led by McMillian (nine times), Mitchell (eight times), and Shannon Grant (four times). Grant has also posted a pair of double-doubles this season.
