Kimutai wins third race in a row, both teams finish in third at Belhaven Invitational

CLINTON, Miss. | Freshman phenom Godfrey Kimutai led both Jackson State cross country teams with his third first-place finish of the year at the Belhaven Invitational, while both teams finished in third place overall.

Kimutai cruised to the finish line, recording a new personal best in the 8k with a time of 25:38.89 to lead all runners on the day. Coming off a SWAC Newcomer of the Week honor, Malvin Boen finished in 15th place.

SWAC Runner and Newcomer of the Week Lorine Jelagat led the Lady Tigers for the third time this season, recording a 13th-place finish against some tough competition, including several Mississippi State runners. Joan Koech followed behind her, cracking the top 25.
