WACO, Texas | Jackson State graduate quarterback JaCobian Morgan was one of 13 finalists, one from each conference at the FCS level, for the 2025 Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award announced on Tuesday morning.
Morgan was a 2024 All-SWAC second team selection and Celebration Bowl Offensive Most Valuable Player, and was named the SWAC Preseason Player of the Year in 2025. He is a multiple-time Offensive Player of the Week and National Player of the Week twice in the first six games of this season. Morgan is on the 2025 FCS Stats Perform Walter Payton and HBCU National Player of the Year preseason watch lists. He is a graduate of Jackson State and is currently pursuing his Master's degree, while also being named a William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist. He is also involved in the community working with gun violence youth prevention and football camps, Children's Hospital "Tailgating with Friends," and has spoken to multiple middle schools.
The Doris Robinson Award, first presented in 2015 and in its 11th season, honors FCS student-athletes who exemplify excellence on the field, in the classroom and across the community. The values embody the leadership and integrity championed by Doris Robinson, a former schoolteacher and the wife of legendary Grambling State University coach Eddie Robinson.
The Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award recipient will be announced on Dec. 9, then honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tennessee. Also to be presented are the Walter Payton Award (FCS Offensive Player of the Year), Buck Buchanan Award (FCS Defensive Player of the Year), Jerry Rice Award (FCS Freshman Player of the Year), Eddie Robinson Award (FCS Coach of the Year) and HBCU National Player of the Year Award.
