As plans are being made to attend the Blue & White Game on Saturday, April 11; there are a few things that fans need to know to better enjoy the spring game and all of the festivities around the day.
The day begins at 8 am with the Sweetness 5k beginning at the Walter Payton Center and A Day with the Boom at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center. The day continues with Junior Preview Day at 9 am (Rose McCoy Auditorium) and the Blue & White game at 12:30 pm. Senior Day for tennis against Alcorn State begins at 1 pm, while baseball faces Florida A&M at 3 pm along with the Thee I Love Bash at the intramural field.
Those fans wanting to tailgate must pay in advance (no later than Friday) by clicking here to reserve your RV spot or a tent tailgate. No cars will be allowed in the tailgating area, all cars wanting to tailgate must pay for a 10x10 area for a tent. All fans wanting to tailgate with a tent must bring a 10x10 tent of their own.
RV parking starts Friday night at 6 pm in the Walter Payton Center parking lot, there will be at attendant when RVs arrive; all cars must park in the other parking lots assigned below. Tents will be the grass area in front of the tennis courts.
Fans will be seated in the bleachers that will be available at the Walter Payton Center, or they can bring a lawn chair to sit in the grass near the bleachers. No fans will be allowed to cross over the facility at any point during the day, and the field is off limits to all fans.Â
The clear bag policy will be in place; no food will be allowed through the gate.Â
Parking has been designated for all of the events going on around campus. Those attending the Sweetness 5k will be able to park in the College of Business lot, Liberal Arts lot, and the Tower lot. For Junior Preview Day, those attending will need to use the John A. Peoples Lots, entering through the Prentiss Street Booth, and proceed through the black gate in front of the President's House.
For the tennis match, those individuals will use the Poindexter Lot and Facilities Parking.
Parking for the Blue & White Game will be the T.B. Ellis Lot (football players will enter from Dalton Street through the black gate in front of T.B. Ellis), College of Business Lot, Liberal Arts Lot (enter from Dalton Street through the black gate in front of Walter Payton Field), and Poindexter Lot (enter from University Boulevard).
Safety is our top priority. Portions of Dalton Street and surrounding side streets will close at 5:00 AM to accommodate the Sweetness 5K. Please follow all posted signage and directions from campus police and event staff. We strongly encourage all attendees to arrive early to allow time for parking and walking to event locations.
