Jackson State falls to Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. | Deashun Ruffin scored in double figures as Jackson State dropped a 93-53 non-conference road game to Northwestern at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Ruffin led Jackson State with 20 points, shooting 50 (6-of-12) percent from the floor and 60 (3-of-5) percent from beyond the arc. He also was perfect from the free throw line, connecting on all five free throws. Meanwhile, Dorian McMillian chipped in nine points and eight rebounds for Jackson State who finished the night 28.6 (16-of-56) percent from the floor and 24.0 (6-of-25) percent from beyond the arc. The Tigers also shot 65.2 (15-of-23) percent from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, Nick Martinelli led three Northwestern players in double figures with 22 points, while Angelo Ciaravino added 13 and Arrinten Page 12 points. Northwestern finished the night shooting 50.0 (28-of-56) percent from the floor and 26.9 (7-of-26) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 76.9 (30-of-39) percent from the free throw line.

Jackson State shot 27.6 (8-of-29) percent from the floor and 21.4 (3-of-!4) percent from beyond the arc in the first half, while shooting 62.5 (5-of-8) percent from the free throw line. They followed that up by shooting 29.6 (8-of-27) percent from the floor and 27.3 (3-of-11) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 66.7 (10-of-15) percent from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, Northwestern shot 44.0 (11-of-25) percent from the floor and 11.1 (1-of-9) percent from beyond the arc in the opening half, while also shooting 78.3 (18-of-23) percent from the free throw line in the opening half. They followed that up by shooting 54.8 (17-of-31) percent from the floor and 35.3 (6-of-17) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 75.0 (12-of-16) percent from the free throw line.
