BIRMIMGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State senior guard Daeshun Ruffin was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Impact Player of the Week for the third time this season after his performance at the Toyota Chris Paul HBCU Classic presented by AARP last week.
Ruffin finished the week averaging 30.5 points per game against Hampton and Norfolk State, including missing his career-high by just one point against Hampton when he finished with 36 points. In that game, he also shot 72.2 (13-of-18) percent from the floor and 40.0 (2-of-5) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 88.9 (8-of-9) percent from the free throw line. He followed that up with 25 points against Norfolk State, shooting 50.0 (8-of-16) percent from the floor and 50.0 (3-of-6) percent from beyond the arc. He also shot 85.7 (6-of-7) percent from the free throw line in the finale.Â
The senior finished the week shooting 61.8 (21-of-34) percent from the floor and 45.5 (5-of-11) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 87.5 (14-of-16) percent from the free throw line. He also averaged 3.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.Â
Jackson State returns to action on Monday, Dec. 29 on the road against TCU.
