TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Jackson State hits the road for a pair of key Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games this week beginning with Florida A&M at the Al Lawson Center on Saturday.
The meeting is the second of the season between two teams separated by just one game in the conference standings after Florida A&M won the first meeting on the road, 72-62 in late January. Jackson State (8-16, 8-3 SWAC) sits two games back of conference-leading Southern and is tied with Bethune-Cookman. Meanwhile, Florida A&M (10-12, 7-4 SWAC) is one of three teams sitting three games back of Southern. With just seven games remaining, heading into the weekend there are six teams within four games of the conference lead.
The Tigers have three players averaging double figures and are led by Daeshun Ruffin at 16.4 points per game after scoring in double figures in 13 of the 14 games he has played this season. He is shooting 37.4 (73-of-195) percent from the floor and 30.3 (20-of-66) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 86.5 (64-of-75) percent from the free throw line. Dorian McMillian is averaging 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 42.2 (92-of-218) percent from the floor and 37.5 (39-of-104) percent from beyond the arc, and Jayme Mitchell Jr., whos has missed the last three games, is averaging 10.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 36.0 (67-of-186) percent from the floor and 37.4 (43-of-115) percent from beyond the arc.
Romelle Mansel is averaging 9.4 points per game and 6.7 rebounds for the Tigers.

- Four of the top 10 scoring outputs for Jackson State under head coach Mo Williams have come this season including the last three against Southern (89), Mississippi Valley State (92), and UAPB (94).
