HONOLULU, Haawa'i | Mari Stephens went 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI, but the Jackson State softball team still came up short on Wednesday, and fell to the Washington Huskies by a final of 4-1.
Sofia Gonzalez (4-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Jackson State. Brooklyn Morris was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two innings, surrendering one run without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (10-3) got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning.
- Stephens put Jackson State on the board with a leadoff home run off Huskies pitcher Sophia Ramuno.
- The Tigers were unable to hold the lead, as Washington scored four times over the remaining six innings to grab the 4-1 win.

- Jackson State pitchers limited Washington to just 1-for-8 (.125) with runners in scoring position.
- JSU's pitchers falso aced 27 Washington hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and 10 fly balls while striking out three.
- Stephens led the Tigers at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.
- Washington was led offensively by freshman Jade Bubke, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
- Ramuno led the Huskies pitching staff, throwing seven innings of one-run ball.
