Jackson, Miss.| The Jackson State softball is setting out on a quest to defend its SWAC title with the start of the 2025 season on the horizon. The Tigers will host their annual River City Classic tournament at the JSU softball field. JSU will face Arlington Baptist in its first game at 10 a.m.
Jackson State completed the 2024 season 33-19 overall and 16-8 in SWAC play. The Tigers won four games in a row on their way to the program's first SWAC Championship in 11 years. JSU competed against LSU and California in the NCAA Regionals before wrapping up the historic season.
JSUÂ landed four players on the SWAC's preseason all-conference team.
Julie Lopez,
Mari Stephens and
Jace Jackson received first team honors.
Meah Almaraz earned second team honors.
The Tigers' 2025 schedule features 25 non-conference matchups, an additional tournament at home, and a tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Jackson State will host Arlington Baptist, Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Grambling State and Mississippi Valley State in the River City Classic. The complete tournament schedule is attached below.
