ATLANTA, Ga. | No. 2 seed Jackson State never trailed on its way to a 91-76 quarterfinal victory over No. 7 seed Florida A&M at the 2025 Starry SWAC Men's Basketball Tournaments presented by Buick on Wednesday night.
Shannon Grant posted his fourth double double of the season with 17 points and 16 rebounds hitting on 6-of-9 his shots from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Daeshun Ruffin led Jackson State (15-17) with 29 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists while hitting on 9-of-12 shots from the floor including five three-pointers.Â
All five starters for the Tigers were in double figures with Keiveon Hunt adding 15 points and seven assists, Romelle Mansel 14 points, and Dorian McMillian 13 points and six rebounds in the win.Â
Jackson State finished the night shooting 61.2 (30-of-49) percent from the floor and 47.1 (8-of-17) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 79.3 (23-of-29) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Florida A&M finished the night shooting 41.0 (25-of-61) percent from the floor and 37.0 (10-of-27) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 66.7 (16-of-24) percent from the free throw line.

Jackson State shot a blistering 63.0 (17-of-27) percent from the floor and 55.6 (5-of-9) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 77.8 (7-of-9) percent from the free throw line and dominated the boards in the first half winning the battle 20-8. Meanwhile, Florida A&M shot 34.6 (9-of-26) percent from the floor and 40.0 (4-of-10) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 90.0 (9-of-10) percent from the free throw line.
The Tigers shot 59.1 (13-of-22) percent from the floor and 37.5 (3-of-8) percent from beyond the arc in the second half. They also shot 80.0 (16-of-20) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Florida A&M shot 45.7 (16-of-35) percent from the floor and 35.3 (6-of-17) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 50.0 (7-of-14) percent from the free throw line.Â
Jackson State dominated the boards overall, winning the battle 38-25.
