Tigers use three home runs, pitching performance from Gonzalez to pick up road win

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Jackson State hit three home runs and scattered five hits defeating Prairie View A&M 12-0 to open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on the road on Friday.

Darwin Gregg connected on his first home run of the season to start the scoring in the second, and that was followed by a solo shot from Tyshon Patty to push the lead to 3-0 after one. Jordan McCladdie added his first of the season in the fourth to push the lead to 8-0 before the Tigers added four in the ninth for the win.

McCladdie finished the day 3-for-6 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Ledy Alvarez finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and a pair of RBI. Wilbert Perez finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and Tyshon Patty went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI.

Erick Gonzalez (3-0) picked up the win, working 8.0 innings in the start and scattered four hits with 13 strikeouts before giving way to Shemar Harris for the final inning.
