JACKSON, Miss.| The JSU Softball team claimed the series against Alabama State 2-1 after splitting its Saturday doubleheader. The Tigers won game two 9-8 in walk-off fashion and fell in eight innings in game three.
Jackson State improves to 16-10 overall and 6-2 in SWAC play.
Game 1
How It Happened
- Jackson State got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.Â
- The Tigers added one run in the third after Alabama State committed an error.
- Alabama State tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a single by Alana Scott, and a sacrifice fly by Jaibriel Terrell.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Jackson State University broke up the tie when Gabby Willis grounded out, scoring one run. Then a walk by Mari Stephens followed to extend the lead to 4-2.
- Alabama State captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth when Brooke Ramsey singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
- Haley Howard doubled to left field, which helped Jackson State University tie the game at five in the bottom of the fifth.
- ASU broke up the tie in the top of the sixth when Zoee Disroe hit a solo home run to left field, then an error followed to extend the lead to 8-5.
- JSU came back to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a single by Jace Jackson, and a double by Meah Almaraz.
- The Tigers offense pushed through to secure the 9-8 walk-off win.

- Jorgina Gant earned the win for JSU in the circle.
- The freshman gave up seven hits and eight runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking two.
- Mason Quinnie took the loss for Alabama State.

- Jackson State fell behind by five runs in the third inning, but then tried to fight back.
- The Tigers closed the gap by scoring on a home run, a walk, and a single.
- JSU scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to left field by Jace Jackson.
- The navy and white tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a walk by Haley Howard, and a single by Valerie Joaquin.
- A dropped third strike gave Alabama State the lead, 7-6, in the top of the eighth.
- The Tigers weren't able to recover in the bottom of the extra inning as ASU went on to register the win.

- Mason Quinnie earned the win for Alabama State after giving up four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out none and walking three.
- Brooklyn Morris took the loss for JSU after pitching four innings, giving up one run (zero earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking one.
- Sofia Gonzalez started in the circle for the Tigers.
- Gonzalez allowed seven hits and six runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
- Kaitlyn Hill led things off in the circle for Alabama State.
