Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn.| The Jackson State softball team fell on the road Wednesday afternoon to Memphis in a tough mid-week matchup. JSU put up one run in the top of the first inning and never scored again as Memphis prevailed, 9-1.
How It Happened
- Jackson State (19-18, 9-4 SWAC) put one run on the board from Mari Stephens in the top of the first inning.
- Stephens got on base on a hard ground ball to the left side.
- Meah Almaraz advance Stephens to third on a hit to centerfield.
- Stephens stole home to put JSU ahead in its first appearance at the plate.
- That was the only run JSU put up as Memphis went on to score nine runs in five innings.
Inside the Numbers
- Kristina Carlson also registered a hit in the game for Jackson State.
- Jorgina Gant took the loss in the circle after giving up four runs before Sophia Gonzalez and Madison McDowell entered the game.
- Memphis finished with 12 hits in the game.
