BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | No. 6 seed Jackson State saw its season come to a close as it fell 5-3 to No. 3 Alabama State at the Souhwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament at Rickwood Field on Friday afternoon.
After Alabama State (31-28) jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Jackson State (30-21) battled back to tie the game in the fifth inning before taking a one-run lead on a Hederick Torres single up the middle. However, the Hornets scored two unearned runs in the seventh inning to take the lead for good.
The Tigers were held to four hits on the day by a pair of pitchers, all by four different players. Jordan McCladdie finished 1-for-4 with an RBI, and Torres finished 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Nkosi Didder (4-4) suffered the loss working out of the bullpen allowing two runs (both unearned) on one hit in 1.2 innings. Brandon Haston got the start for Jackson State and went 5.1 innings allowing three runs (all earned) on seven hits, recording three strikeouts before giving way to Didder. JeAndrick Lourens came on in the eighth inning to close out the Tigers on the mound.

- 6th inning - Fabian Santana doubled to left center, RBI (0-0); Devin Chandler scored, 3-3.
- 7th inning - Cruz singled up the middle, 2 RBI (0-0); Landry scored, unearned; Kyler McIntosh scored, unearned, Alabama State 5-3.
