BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State claimed a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly honors this week after its performance against Southern Miss at M.M. Roberts Stadium on Saturday.
Quincy Ivory who was named the Newcomer of the Week for the second consecutive week after recording 10 tackles in the loss including a pair of solo tackles. He also finished with one sack, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a quarterback hurry. Through the first two games of the season, Ivory has recorded three sacks and five tackles for loss.
He was joined by Gerardo Baeza who named the Specialist of the Week after a perfect performace against Southern Miss. The graduate student finished the day with a pair of extra points and two fields - both from over 40 yards. He connected on kicks of 40 yards and 46 yards (two yards shy of his career long).
