BIRMIMGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State senior guard Daeshun Ruffin was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Impact Player of the Week following his performance this past week in a pair of conference games.
He recorded a pair of double-doubles, his third in conference play, in two wins at home for Jackson State over Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern. He opened the week with with 23 points and matching his career-high with 10 assists. The senior finished the night shooting 53.3 (8-of-15) percent shooting from the floor including a pair of three-pointers, while also shooting 83.3 (5-of-6) percent from the free throw line. He followed the night up against Texas Southern with 25 points and a career-high 16 assists for his third consecutive double-double in conference play, connecting 47.1 (8-of-17) percent from the floor and 75.0 (6-of-8) percent from thee free throw line.
For the week, the senior guard averaged 22.5 points and 13.0 assists per game in the two games this week, while also averaging 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. He also finished the week shooting 50.0 (16-of-32) percent from tge floor with a pair of three-pointers, while also shooting 78.6 (11-of-14) percent from the free throw line.
