JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State had five players in double figures as it swept the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season series over Florida A&M with a convincing 80-60 victory at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center on Saturday night.
Jackson State (8-17, 7-5 SWAC), played without head coach Mo Williams who is out due to illness, never trailed in the game and used a 25-point performance from Daeshun Ruffin after a two-game absence from the senior. He narrowly missed a double-double as he finished with nine rebounds and six assists in the win, while also recording three steals. Meanwhile, he was joined in double figures by Jalen Tatum with 15 points in his first game since Nov. 6, finishing 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.
Jayme Mitchell Jr. led three other players in double figures with 14 points, while Dorian McMillian added 13. Meanwhile, Dionjahe Thomas finished with 11 points and nine rebounds for Jackson State who led by as many as 27 in the second half with 5:41 left to play.
Jackson State finished game shooting 48.4 (30-of-62) percent from the floor and 31.3 (5-of-16) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 78.9 (15-of-19) percent from the free throw line, while Florida A&M shot 32.0 (16-of-50) percent from the floor. They also shot 18.2 (2-of-11) percent from beyond the arc and 88.9 (24-of-27) percent from the free throw line. The Tigers also outrebounded Florida A&M, 41-28.
Micah Octave led three Rattlers in double figures with 16.

The Tigers shot 46.9 (15-of-32) percent from the floor in the first half and 28.6 (4-of-14) percent from beyond the arc. They also hit all three of their free throws in the opening half, while Florida A&M shot 32.0 (8-of-25) percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. They also shot 22.2 (2-of-9) percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 (5-of-6) percent from the free throw line.
Jackson State finished the second half shooting 50.0 (15-of-30) percent from the floor, including hitting on one of its two three-pointers. They also finished the half shooting 75.0 (12-of-16) percent from the free throw line, while Florida A&M shot 32.0 (8-of-25) percent from the floor and 18.2 (2-of-11) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 90.5 (19-of-21) percent from the free throw line.
