Jackson State combines for 34 runs, throws combined no-hitter in nightcap

JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State combined for 34 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Tougaloo and held the Bulldogs to four hits in the two games including a combined no-hitter by four Jackson State pitchers in the nightcap.

Jackson State won game one, 19-1, and followed that up with a 15-3 victory in the nightcap at Braddy Field.

Kade Walker (1-1) earned the win in the opener, working the first three innings allowing just one run on a pair of hits with three strikeouts. Kevin De Los Santos came on for 3.0 innings in relief allowing one hit, before Corey Richardson came on for the seventh. At the plate, the Tigers pounded out 20 hits led by Robert Tate Jr. and Troy Wilson Jr. each picking up four hits, with Tate picking up three RBI from the leadoff spot and Wilson knocking in five RBI from the ninth spot. Meanwhile, Payton Boines finished 3-for-4.

In the nightcap, Jayden Lopez (1-0) picked up the win for Jackson State (5-4) working the first 4.0 innings with six strikeouts and allowed one run. He gave way to Talmadge Davis who worked the fifth, Darius Dampier the sixth, and Caleb Gallant the seventh to combine on the no-hitter. At the plate, Jackson State collected 12 hits led by Pierre Cabral who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, while Tyree Reed and Boines each picked up a pair of hits in the win.
