JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State hosted a double header against North Alabama and Co-Lin on Friday afternoon and recorded its first win of the season against the latter in a 6-1 victory.

Jackson State (1-4) won the doubles point with wins by Gokalp Ayar and Fabrizio Fallas (6-2) and Federico Pickenstainer and Jhoan Vaquero (6-2).

The Tigers built on their hot start with a dominant showing in singles play. Chen Hung Yu scored the second point for the Tigers with a 6-0, 6-2 victory, and Ayar followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at number six. Pickenstainer blanked his opponent at number four, while Ching Chang Chiu outlasted his opponent in a three-set battle to secure the victory for the Tigers, 6-4, 1-6, 13-11.

Earlier in the day, the Tigers faced off against the North Alabama Lions. All three doubles teams scored three points but conceded the doubles point. Fallas tallied five points in the first set at number six, the most by the Tigers in singles play.
