JACKSON, Miss. | The Tigers earned their first win in their home double header on Friday afternoon against North Alabama and Co-Lin, with a 6-1 victory over the Wolves.
The Tigers claimed the first point in doubles play with wins by
Daniela Tovar and
Helen Hernandez (6-0), and
Mariia Iordanova and
Polina Georgieva (6-0) at numbers three and two, respectively.
The women continued their dominant performance in singles play, as Hernandez and Tovar both blanked their opponents with back-to-back 6-0, 6-0 victories. Georgieva won her match-up at number four 6-0, 6-2. Iordanova (6-4, 6-1) and
Isabella Benavides (6-0, 6-2) also scored wins for the Tigers en route to their first win of the season.
Jackson State (1-5) also faced off against the North Alabama Lions, where Tovar and Hernandez defeated their opponents 6-3 in doubles play.
