Lugo and Washington earn All-Tournament honors, Tigers take home third place at TNBA

BATON ROUGE, La. | The Jackson State women's bowling team closed out the 2026 TNBA Open with a strong showing over the weekend, including wins over multiple nationally ranked opponents and two athletes receiving All-Tournament honors.

After earning the No. 2 seed heading into Sunday's championship bracket by going 6-4 in the qualifying rounds, the Lady Tigers looked to carry their momentum into their first-round matchup against No. 1-seeded and No. 14 nationally ranked Sam Houston State. Jackson State was able to get one win over the Bearkats in the fourth game before falling 4-1.

They were defeated by No. 23 Central Missouri in the second round before facing off against No. 4-seeded and No. 4 nationally ranked Oklahoma Christian in the final positional round. After splitting the first four games throughout the match, the Tigers secured the final two games to claim the third spot in the tournament.

In the qualifying rounds, Jackson State scored signature wins over No. 17 Tulane 960-891, Oklahoma Christian 973-850, and Central Missouri 988-906. They also defeated Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponents Grambling 908-635, Southern 995-866, and Alabama State 958-793.

Saida Lugo and Faith Washington played pivotal roles in the Tigers' performance over the weekend, with both placing in the top-10 for the weekend. Lugo, who placed sixth overall, recorded a 206.80 average and 1,034 pin total. Washington joined her in the top 10 as she placed ninth with one of her career-best performances, finishing with a 202.00 average and a 1,010-pin total.

The Tigers travel to Smyrna, Tenn., for the Music City Classic on March 6-8, in what will serve as their final regular-season tournament of the season.
