ARLINGTON, Texas | The Jackson State University women's bowling team fell to the No. 3 Alabama State Hornets in a competitive second-round matchup on Saturday afternoon in the SWAC Bowling Tournament at the International Bowling Training and Research Center (ITRC). The Tigers will now face Alabama A&M in Sunday's semifinal for a chance at a rematch against the Hornets.
The Tigers defeated the Hornets in the Traditional round in an 884-932 victory to start the day. The Hornets responded in Baker play with a 987-932 win to tie the match at 1-1. Alabama State gained an early 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, putting the Tigers in a tough spot. Despite the odds, the Tigers rallied back with two wins of their own. The Tigers' rally ran out of steam as they fell to the Hornets 4-2, ending the day two of the tournament.
Jackson State had two bowlers crack the top five with senior
Faith Washington and sophomore
Saida Lugo representing the Tigers. Washington slid into the third spot with a 204 average and 408 total, while Lugo came in at number five with a 394 total and a 197 average.
