JACKSON, Miss. | The Jackson State women's tennis team defeated the Dillard Bleu Devils in a 4-2 victory on Sunday afternoon, extending its winning streak to two.
Tiara Alvarez and
Daniela Tovar started the Tigers off with a 6-2 win at number three, setting the team of
Victoria Linkovski and
Helen Hernandez to deliver the final blow on court one with a 6-3 win, giving the Tigers the doubles point.
The first point in the singles competition was awarded to Alvarez, who was given the win after her opponent retired due to injury. Hernandez earned the second point with a 6-1, 6-4 victory from number four. Junior
Paula Corbalan shut down the Bleu Devils' comeback hopes after rallying back from a 2-6 loss in the first set to round off back-to-back 6-2, 6-4 wins at court one to give the Hornets their sixth win of the season.

The Tigers will travel to Montgomery to face two conference opponents, Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M, on March 27-28.
