JACKSON, Miss. | The Jackson State men's tennis team defeated the Alcorn State Braves in a 4-1 decision on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale.
In doubles competition,
Ching Chang Chiu and
Chen Hung-Yu earned a 6-3 victory in the first match of the day. The Braves responded with a 6-2 win of their own to tie things up at one all.
Fabrizio Fallas and
Gokalp Ayar secured the doubles point for Jackson State after defeating the team of Thomas Grime and Jor Prats Navarrete in a 6-2 decision.
Hung-Yu carried his momentum from doubles play into singles, scoring the second point for the Tigers after a 6-4, 6-0 win at number five. After the Braves won their sole point at number six, senior Federico Pieckenstainer won a 6-1, 6-2 decision at number three. Chiu delivered the final blow to the Braves with a 7-5, 7-6 win to clinch the Tigers' third Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) win of the season.
