NEW ORLEANS, La. | The Jackson State men's tennis team shut out the Alcorn State Braves in the first round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tennis Tournament in a 4-0 decision on Friday evening.
Ching Chang Chiu and
Chen Hung-Yu started the Tigers off with a great start in the rematch of the regular season finale, recording a 6-1 victory over Matthew Holl and Vicent Buigues.

Gokalp Ayar followed up with a 6-4 win at number two to secure the doubles point for the Tigers.
Ayar carried his momentum into singles play, scoring the first singles win of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at number four. Hung-Yu was the next Tiger to win his singles match, as the freshman from Taiwan won by 6-3, 6-3 decision. Senior
Jhoan Vaquero sealed the deal for Jackson State with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number two to propel the Tigers into the semifinals.
