SUWANEE, Ga. | A trio of Jackson State golfers finished inside the top 20 at a rain-shortened Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Collegiate tournament at Bears Best Golf Course, which was called on Tuesday.

The teams were held to 18 holes because of weather that swept through the area Monday night into Tuesday, but not before JD Berndt and Emmanuel Jensen posted first-round scores of 3-over (75) to finish tied for 15th overall. They finished six shots behind the leaders, while Trace Carpenter joined them in the top-20 with a 4-over (76) in the only round finished.

As a team, Jackson State finished the tournament at 18-over (306).
