Coach Cason Burk enters his ninth season at Jackson State University as an assistant coach.
Prior to being brought on full time, Coach Burk served as a graduate assistant basketball coach from 2011-12.
Other than his primary coaching responsibilities, Coach Burk advises and track players academic progress reports and advisement along with managing recruitment, travel, and the equipment budget. He also maintains department and SWAC compliance report, assists with fundraising and is responsible for creating team season schedule.
Coach Burk played college basketball for Jackson State University from 2008-11 where he helped lead the Tigers to a 17-1 conference record and its last conference title in 2010. He also led the SWAC in rebounding in 2010.
He is a 2006 graduate of Provine High School in Jackson, Miss. where he earned the special honor of being the class Salutatorian.
Coach Burk also earned his Bachelor of Science and Magna Cum Laude from Jackson State in May of 2010 before pursuing and obtaining his Masters of Public Health from JSU in December of 2012.
