Prairie View Defeats Jackson State

Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Senior Christina Ellis scored a team-high 13 points and Prairie View A&M defeated Jackson State 76-57 Saturday afternoon in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.
 
Prairie View improved to 6-8 and 3-1 in the SWAC and JSU stands at 5-11 and 1-4 in the conference.
 
Junior Marneisha Hamer and senior Chelsea Causey each scored 19 points. Causey, a Florence native, went 4-of-4 at the free-throw line and hauled in four boards.
 
Sumer Williams, junior out of Vivian, Louisiana, filled in nicely off the bench and added seven points on 3-fo-4 shooting from the field. Williams also added five rebounds.
 
The Lady Tigers shot 31.8 percent (21-of-66) from the field and scored 14 second-chance points.
 
The Blue and White return to the hardwood Monday at Texas Southern. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m.
